Orlando Registration
It is time to register for the National Championships in Orlando, FL. Because this is not a USA Volleyball event we need to register with AAU. Go to www.aausports.org and click on the “Join AAU” icon and follow the instructions. It will cost $12 and you need to put in our club code:
Our Club Code is: ORVB37YKA0
Please make sure you register by March 1st because we can't register teams without players. Teams that are scheduled to attend:
Aces, Attack, Avalanche, Avenge, and Falcons
Apparel Order Form
Listed below is the link for the Alpine Apparel Order Form. Just fax it in and then drop a check in the mail or just give it to me at a practice.
If you have an idea for an item not listed just let me know and I will try and get it made for you.
Two Major Rule Changes This Year!
There are seveleral rule changes that are being made this year. Two in particular are going to raise some comments. First the centerline rule... In the past a player could not touch the opponents court with any part of their body. Here is the new rule:
11.2.2.2: “to touch the opponent’s court with any part of the body above the feet is permitted provided that it does not interfere with the opponent’s play.”
That means a player could dive head first over the centerline and as long as their feet don't cross the line and they don't contact the other team it is OK. WOW!
Alpine is Looking for Boys
Alpine VBC and our region is trying to resurrect the Boy's Volleyball program. If you know of any boys in the 12-18 year old range have them go on-line and Pre-register for tryouts, the date will be announced.
"Energy Drinks: Help, Harm, or Hype?"
Athletes who train hard and frequently often complain about "energy drain" and fatigue. Because they are regularly reminded to consume adequate fluids and fuel to minimize early fatigue and to maximize performance and recovery, the concept of an "energy" drink—fluid and energy together in one bottle—is very appealing.
